Fanfics: Breakdown

To be completely honest here, Katniss is still unsure of her feelings for Annie. She's not sure if she loves her, which bothered her a lot because she does. She'd been much happier around Annie. Katniss noticed that the District 4 woman has been happier around her too. One thing she is sure about is that she doesn't want to break Annie's heart.

Katniss stared at Johanna, still under Annie. She fixed her position and sat down properly. She couldn't help but be scared of her roommate. Johanna just kept smiling, obviously amused with what she found out. Suddenly Katniss couldn't look her in the eye. "What are you doing here, Johanna?" Annie stood up and held Katniss's shoulder. Johanna clapped her hands three times and laughed. "Acting tough are we, angel." "Don't call me that." Annie snapped. Johanna entered the room and closed the door behind her. "I'm not here to fight, angel. I just came to watch." Katniss looked at Johanna. She seemed to notice because she stared back.

"The mockingjay and the angel, lovers!" She said enthusiastically, "Does fishman and breadboy know about this little game?" she teased. "Don't you dare tell Fin-" "Don't worry, angel," she cut her off, "I won't. If I did you wouldn't last this long." Katniss's heart skipped a beat. "How long have you..." she whispered. Johanna smiled, "I read the angel's lips. After you left I followed you. Saw you kiss. After that it's been obvious to me." she sat down on her bed. Annie's still standing, still holding Katniss's shoulder. It's starting to feel heavy. "You knew? All this time?" "All this time, mockingjay." she stared at Katniss dead in the eye, which bothered her a lot.

Again, Johanna seemed to notice her uneasiness. Katniss felt like passing out again, just like in the forest. She collected herself and exhaled. I have to get out of here. She stood up, and walked out the door. "Katniss where are you going?" she heard Annie and Johanna fighting down the hall. She rushed through what seemed like the longest hall in District 13, bumping into guards and people she knew. There was one person Katniss wanted to see right now: Delly Cartwright. For some reason she trusted her, being the only other person from District 12 she knew; besides Peeta, Gale, Haymitch and her family.

She knocked on Delly's door. "Delly? It's me, Katniss. I-" "Katniss, come in." Delly opened the door, Katniss stepped in and closed it behind her. Delly, still with her usual smile, went to the cabinet and took out a few cups and prepared some tea. She looked worried, sad even. She sat down on Delly's bed, now worried for the girl. Delly took the tray and headed for Katniss. "Where's your brother?" At the sound of the word brother Delly just dropped the tray and the cups broke on impact, tea stained the floor. Delly fell to her knees, glass stuck into her skin, and just started to cry. Her face was buried in her hands.

Katniss joined her, falling to her knees, ignoring the piercing pain of the broken glass. She held Delly close and started rubbing her back. She whispered some reassuring words, trying to make her stop. After a few minutes, she did. Katniss helped Delly up and guided her to the bed, still constantly patting her. She wiped Delly's tears and smiled at her making the young blonde smile back, her eyes still stained with tears. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to break down like that." she whispered, her voice was shaky.

"Don't worry." Katniss couldn't say anything else. After that breakdown of Delly's, she didn't want to give the young girl another burden.
