Clove pulled out her knives and threw them at the dummies a few feet away from her. The knives hit dead center. He looked at her in awe. His eyes not leaving her face. He watched her as her sweat dripped from her cheeks to her training outfit, drenching the suit leaving it just a bit tighter than it should. Cato punched Marvel's arm. Was it supposed to be light? Marvel didn't think so. He wasn't as strong or as muscular as Cato, but he was as sure as hell a lot smarter and a lot faster. He didn't remove his gaze from Clove, he just rubbed his arm. "Are you checking Clove out?" Cato asked, Marvel finally blinked and looked at the guy. "What's it to you if I am." he said confidently. He knew Cato liked Clove, and he knew very well that Glim liked him, but he and Clove just clicked.
Cato punched him a bit harder this time, he knew he was getting on his nerves. He walked away from them and sat down, staring at Clove again. He could just feel Glimmer staring him down like the tribute he was. He shrugged the feeling off and sighed. He rested his arms on his legs and looked down on the floor. "What are we going to do?" He whispered. "I don't know. What are we going to do, Marvel?" A familiar voice answered. He looked up and saw the beauty that is Clove. Sweat dripped onto his face from her lip. "You look disgusting." He joked. She seemed to smile but quickly changed her attitude. That's something he liked a lot about Clove, she acts tough when deep inside she's a normal little girl, that she's just as scared to be here as the others.
"I'm gonna go take a shower, you coming?" She teased, snapping him out of his trance. "You go ahead," he answered, like she was serious with her offer, "I'm gonna stay and train for a while." He stood up and grabbed one of the spears resting on the wall. He aimed at a dummy and froze, waiting for something to happen. He looked out of the corner of his eye and Clove was gone. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and exhaled as he threw the spear. He opened his eyes to look at the result: dead center. After a few extra hours of throwing and slashing, he grabbed a towel and left the training area and went to his floor.
Marvel opened his door, flung his towel to the floor and unzipped his training suit, leaving him in skin and sweat. He went to his shower, pressed a few buttons and the water came flowing. He turned his back towards the cool liquid and let it flow off his back. He closed his eyes in an attempt to relax under the water. In all the stillness and quiet he heard something, someone, open his room's door. He stayed under the shower, calm and relaxed. Knowing the Capitol and this building, it's probably just one of the tributes trying to make an alliance. No one's allowed to kill each other yet, and Marvel respects that rule.
As he was trying to forget the intruder, his bathroom door suddenly opened. His body tensed as the person came closer. He could tell that it was a girl. Glimmer? Clove? Maybe the district five girl. The shower curtains flung open and the sight calmed him down. "You scared the hell out of me." Clove smiled at him, apparantly amused by what she did. "Can I join you?" Without him even answering the question she removed her clothes and jumped right in. She set her foot inside the slippery tiled floor and fell. Marvel's instincts kicked in and caught her, his right hand on her back and her arms around his neck. They looked intently into each other's eyes.
Cloved moved in closer, an attempt to kiss, but Marvel moved his head. "You should be a little more careful there." He said, helping her stand. They closed the curtains and kept the water running. "You know, this is against the rules." He said, not looking at her. "Who cares. The whole thing is a disaster." She whispered. Clove hugged Marvel from behind and rested her head on his back. "I just want to be with you." Those words echoed throughout the room. He didn't move. He didn't breathe.
He wanted this moment to last forever, because hey, you never get a chance in love once your name's called out in the reaping.
